MOZA R5 vs R5 Pro: what changed, and which one to buy in the UK
No paid links yet. We don't earn from any link on this page, so every shop link is a plain link. Prices are UK prices on the date shown.
Researched, not tested. We haven't used either wheel, so we don't say how they feel. This page is built from MOZA's UK and US product pages and UK retailer listings, checked on 1 November 2026, plus MOZA support pages we checked on 31 October 2026.
The short answer: in the UK, buy the R5 Pro bundle (£389). It has more torque (6 Nm vs 5.5 Nm), a much finer 21-bit encoder and newer SRP Lite2 pedals, and MOZA UK no longer sells the original R5 racing bundle (some UK retailers still do, from £359). What you give up is the original's leather-trimmed ES wheel: the Pro comes with the plainer ES Lite.
Quick verdict (UK prices checked 1 Nov 2026):
- New buyer on PC: the R5 Pro bundle, £389 at MOZA UK, or £388.99 at Overclockers (in stock) and Scan.
- Already own an R5: keep the base. Spend the money on pedals first, because MOZA UK doesn't sell the R5 Pro base on its own.
- Found an original R5 bundle for sale: it's still a capable 5.5 Nm PC kit, but it's only worth it at a clear discount on £389. Amazon.co.uk listed one at £359 on 1 Nov 2026; Currys (£388) and AWD-IT (£388.99) were barely cheaper than the Pro.
- PS5: neither works. Xbox: only by adding the separately sold ESX wheel (£129).
What "MOZA R5" means in the UK now
MOZA UK's page for the original R5 racing bundle now redirects to the R5 Pro bundle (checked 1 Nov 2026). The original 5.5 Nm R5 base is still listed in the UK, but only in the MOZA Trucking Bundle, at £449 (down from £549). That bundle comes with a TSW truck wheel and SR-P Lite pedals (Trucking Bundle). There's also an R5 Pro Truck Bundle at £479 (MOZA UK). Both are aimed at truck-sim players, so we leave them out here.
In the US, MOZA still sells the original R5 Racing Bundle at $379 (down from $599), "in stock" (MOZA US, 1 Nov 2026). That's why many reviews and AI answers still describe the 5.5 Nm R5, a kit UK buyers can no longer get from MOZA directly.
Some UK retailers still stock the original R5 racing bundle (MOZA's RS20). On 1 Nov 2026 Amazon.co.uk listed it at £359, Currys at £388.00 and AWD-IT at £388.99, in stock. Overclockers' £388.99 listing is the R5 Pro: its original R5 page has gone, and CCL lists the original as discontinued.

What actually changed
The base: a little more torque, a much finer encoder
MOZA's own summary is that the R5 Pro "increases direct drive torque from 5.5 Nm to 6 Nm and moves from a 15-bit encoder to a 21-bit magnetic encoder" (R5 Pro FAQ).
- Torque: 0.5 Nm extra is about 9% more peak force (MOZA says 9.1%). That's a small step. Both sit above MOZA's 3.9 Nm R3 and below the R9, where the bigger bases start.
- Encoder: 21-bit has 64 times the positions of 15-bit, which is the "64× the precision" figure MOZA uses. The encoder reads where the wheel is, so the gain is in fine detail, not strength.
- Software and processor: MOZA adds its newer NexGen 5.0 force-feedback algorithm, a 600 MHz CPU and "upgraded intelligent temperature control". These are MOZA's descriptions; the original R5 was already sold with a "Smart Temperature Control System". We haven't seen independent measurements, and we haven't tested either base.
The wheel: the Pro's is plainer
This is the one place the original bundle comes out ahead on paper. The original came with the ES wheel, which has a microfibre leather grip. The R5 Pro comes with the ES Lite, which has a TPE (rubber-like) grip. Both have 22 buttons, 10 RGB rev LEDs and aluminium frames, and they're about the same size (11 in vs 280 mm).
If grip feel matters to you, MOZA sells wheel mods for the ES Lite, such as a Formula Wheel Mod (£37) and a 12-inch Round Wheel Mod (£59, down from £79), listed on the R5 Pro page.
The pedals: SRP Lite2 replaces SR-P Lite
MOZA says the bundle "replaces the original SR-P Lite pedals with the new SRP Lite2 two-pedal set". Both use Hall sensors, which measure how far you press, not how hard. Neither has a load-cell brake. Both can take an add-on clutch pedal (£39.90 each at MOZA UK). The Lite2 adds named adjustment (15 mm side, 36 mm height) and MOZA-listed performance kits (£29–£39).
If you want a brake that responds to force, budget for a load-cell set instead. MOZA's SRP2 (£139) is the cheapest load-cell option. It plugs into the R5's pedal port or into your PC by USB. See the best load-cell pedals for the MOZA R5 for every option and its UK price.
Which should you buy?
Buying your first direct-drive wheel
Get the R5 Pro bundle. At £389 it's a complete PC kit: base, wheel, two pedals and a desk clamp. MOZA's FAQ says it suits "a first direct drive setup" without a cockpit.
Where you buy affects how soon it arrives. On 1 Nov 2026, MOZA UK said "Ships in 25 business days", while Overclockers showed £388.99, in stock and Scan listed it at £388.99.

- Overclockers UK, £388.99, in stock.
- Scan, listed at £388.99.
You already own an original R5
There's no simple base swap. MOZA UK's wheel-bases page (1 Nov 2026) doesn't list a standalone R5 Pro base; it starts at the R9. Selling a full R5 kit to buy an R5 Pro kit gets you 0.5 Nm and a finer encoder, and costs you the leather ES wheel.
Better value for most R5 owners:
- Pedals first. A load-cell brake such as the SRP2 (£139) changes how braking works, which a 0.5 Nm base bump doesn't. See load-cell pedals for the MOZA R5.
- A mount. Pedals loose on the floor can slide when you brake hard. A wheel stand or cockpit holds the base and pedals together.
- A bigger base later, if you want much more torque, not 0.5 Nm more.
You've found an original R5 bundle at another seller
It's still a working 5.5 Nm direct-drive PC kit with a better-trimmed wheel. But you'd get the older SR-P Lite pedals and the older 15-bit encoder. Check what's in the box and how much warranty is left, and only buy if it's clearly cheaper than the R5 Pro's £389. On 1 Nov 2026 that meant Amazon.co.uk at £359; at Currys (£388) or AWD-IT (£388.99), the Pro costs £1 or less more and is the better buy.
Platforms: PC, Xbox and PS5
- PC: both. MOZA calls the R5 Pro "designed for Windows PC". Its FAQ names iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC, the F1 series, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon, DiRT Rally 2.0 and EA SPORTS WRC.
- Xbox: not out of the box. MOZA's route is the separately sold ESX wheel (£129, down from £139) fitted to the base, making £518 with the R5 Pro bundle from MOZA UK, or £517.99 with an Overclockers or Scan bundle. MOZA's compatibility chart ticks the ESX under "R5" but has no separate R5 Pro column, and MOZA says game support "may vary by title" (checked 31 Oct and 1 Nov 2026). The bundled ES Lite would then sit unused.
- PS5: no. MOZA's FAQ said its products don't support PS4 or PS5 and there's "no official workaround" (checked 31 Oct 2026).
- Forza Horizon 6: the official FH6 wheel list (dated 19 May 2026, re-checked 1 Nov 2026) shows the MOZA R5 with partial PC support ("Additional support coming in update"), no Xbox support and no separate R5 Pro row (FH6 supported wheels). MOZA's own R5 Pro page lists Forza Horizon 6 among compatible games, but that's MOZA's claim, not Forza's list.

Warranty and returns
MOZA UK's R5 Pro page lists a "14-Day Returns Policy" and "Up to 24-Month Warranty Protection". MOZA's policy (checked 31 Oct 2026) covers wheel bases for 24 months, and wheels and pedals for 12 months. If you buy from Overclockers or Scan, their own returns terms apply as well as your rights under UK consumer law.
FAQ
Is the MOZA R5 Pro worth it over the R5?
For a new buyer in the UK, mostly yes: MOZA UK no longer sells the original racing bundle, and at most UK retailers it costs about the same as the R5 Pro's £389. The exception on 1 Nov 2026 was Amazon.co.uk at £359. On specs the Pro adds 0.5 Nm, a 21-bit encoder, NexGen 5.0 and SRP Lite2 pedals. For an existing R5 owner the step is small, and pedals are the better upgrade.
Can I upgrade my R5 to an R5 Pro with a firmware update?
No. MOZA says the R5 Pro moves to a 21-bit magnetic encoder and "introduces" a 600 MHz CPU, which are hardware changes, and it only sells the Pro base as part of a new bundle. Firmware updates can still improve an existing R5, but they won't make it an R5 Pro.
Does the R5 Pro bundle include a clutch pedal?
No. It comes with an SRP Lite2 throttle and brake. MOZA sells the SRP Lite2 clutch pedal separately for £39.90.
Does the MOZA R5 Pro work on PS5 or Xbox?
Not on PS5. MOZA's FAQ says its current products don't support PlayStation. On Xbox it needs the ESX wheel (£129) in place of the bundled ES Lite, and game support varies.
Is the R5 Pro's wheel the same as the R5's?
No. The original R5 came with the ES wheel, which has a microfibre leather grip. The R5 Pro comes with the ES Lite, which has a TPE grip. Both have 22 buttons and 10 rev LEDs.
